Patient Visitation

Patient Visitation

We recognize that family and friends can be a very important part of your recovery and encourage their presence during this time.  Ultimately, your health and well-being are our primary concern and visitation privileges are based upon ensuring your best recovery.  The Medical Center shall not restrict, limit or otherwise deny visitation privileges on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or disability.

Choosing Your Visitors

You will be given the equal opportunity to name those who are allowed to visit as well as those you prefer not to see.  When the patient is a minor, the legal parent or guardian will be given the same opportunity to make this decision.

Selecting a Support Person

You will be given the equal opportunity to choose a Support Person whose role it is to determine who can visit and who should not be allowed to visit if you are unable to do so.

When Visitation Rights Are Restricted

When necessary, Milford Regional may impose Justified Clinical Restrictions on your visitation rights.  If this happens, the Medical Center will explain to you (or your Support Person as applicable) the reasons for the restrictions or limitations on your visitation rights and how the Medical Center's visitation policies are aimed at protecting the health and safety of you and all of our patients.

Contact the Patient Liaison at 508-422-2648 if you have any questions about your visitation rights.

General Visiting Hours

We encourage visitors to leave the hospital at 8:00 p.m. to allow patients to rest; however, we realize the importance of family and friend support during recovery.  It is important to know that, for security reasons, the hospital's main lobby entrance is locked at 8 p.m.  After 8:00 p.m., visitors can enter through one of the two emergency department entrances and, from there, security can provide assistance in directing you to the patient's room.  The hospital's main lobby entrance reopens at 6:30 a.m.

Intensive Care Unit Visiting Hours

We ask that only immediate family and/or patient's designated support person visit in the ICU.  They are welcome around the clock; however, brief visits are recommended.  A limit of two visitors at a time is encouraged, but arrangements for additional visitors may be made with the approval of the intensive care nursing staff.

Maternity Visiting Hours

Parents, grandparents and siblings of the new arrival are welcome to visit mom and baby anytime except for the first two hours after birth.  This time is for family bonding and skin-to-skin.  Other visitors are welcome to stop by from 11:00 - 2:00 pm or 4:00 - 8:00 pm.  Our "Quiet Time" hours are from 2:00 to 4:00 pm every day when visitors are not permitted.  To prevent the spread of outside infections to your newborn, we ask that all other children under the age of 14 not visit.  They can, however, see your newest arrival through the viewing window into the nursery.
