Areas of Interest

Dr. Jun-O'Connell's areas of interest include ischemic stroke, post-stroke recovery, acute management of stroke, cerebrovascular disease, surveillance and management of post-stroke fatigue, mood symptoms, cognitive change and motor recovery. In addition to her medical expertise, Dr. Jun-O'Connell is active on many professional committees and has been honored for her work in quality improvement. Dr. Jun-O’Connell has a passion for research, particularly in stroke care, and holds a LEAN Black Belt certification from the UMass Memorial Health Center for Innovation and Transformational Change.

As a board certified vascular neurologist, my mission is to bring the best, evidence based stroke management to our community. I have previously dedicated my career as an academic vascular neurologist dealing with the most complex strokes in a comprehensive stroke center over the past several years. One of the major challenges I learned from my resilient patients is the challenge of finding a stroke neurologist in their community, leading to far trips to a tertiary center. I recognize the major patient access issue. And stroke is a debilitating disease in which patient education and prevention is critical.
