Personally Speaking
As an internal medicine/pediatric physician, I entered a combined residency program that was four years long, compared to the traditional three-year residency. For me, one of the reasons I chose this specialty is that I love the variety of seeing patients of all ages. I can see an 80-year-old who may have complex medical issues and in the next visit see a newborn. I also like to see multiple family generations. I have one family where I see the grandparents, the parents and the grandchildren. Being able to see the whole family is very beneficial and better for their care.
