Milford Regional Gala Was A Fundraising Success

Milford Regional Medical Center’s 15th annual fundraising gala and live auction, Mélange, held on Saturday, November 2, at a transformed Milford Middle School East, was an enormous success bringing in close to $800,000 in support of the hospital’s fourth floor renovations designed to meet the healthcare needs of cancer and palliative care patients.

Hosted by Kevin and Leslie Lobisser and Joe and Suzette Ferreira of Lobisser & Ferreira Construction Corp., whose generosity and skill turned the unlikely venue of Milford Middle School East into a stunning convergence of glamour and uptown chic, 400 guests were wowed by a transformation that included plenty of glitz and a whole lot of dazzling graffiti. Created by local graffiti artists who put their heart and soul into designing a cavalcade of inspired quotes, colors and images which intermingled the nostalgia of childhood with today’s pop culture, the middle school of old took on a hip, contemporary ambiance.

The spectacular event, appropriately called Glitz & Graffiti, was an electric montage of good company, fine cuisine, live music, and a dynamic auction run by auctioneer Paul Zekos that featured an enviable list of items for guests to bid on including luxurious trips to a Tuscany Villa, Wyoming Retreat, Amazing Amalfi and the ever-popular Oliva’s Lobster Bake. Through the generosity of Milford Regional’s guests, the proceeds from this year’s auction was the most successful in the event’s history. Guests were also entertained by the magnetic performance of a live artist who captivated the audience as she brought a blank canvas to life in minutes through her flamboyant technique and artistry.

Celebrating Mélange’s 15-year anniversary as an immensely successful fundraising event through the loyalty and support of the community, Milford Regional took this opportunity to thank all of the past chairs and hosts who helped make each year its own unique success story:  Christina and John Brabazon, Paula and John Burns, Greg and Elsie Burrill, Matt and Sandy Clark, Tom and Rebecca Clark, Tom and Jeannine Clarke, Anthony and Susan Consigli, Beth and Paul Kelly, Kevin and Leslie Lobisser, Kevin and Patty Meehan, Chris and Millie Milton, Elaine and Peter Osgood, and  Andrew and Julie Salmon. This year, Milford Regional was privileged to have Milford’s-own Tom Davoren, former teacher, Principal of Middle School East, and Superintendent of Milford Schools, along with his wife Sandy, a 40-year career as a nurse at Milford Regional, and their family as Mélange’s 15-year Honoree.

Major sponsors of this year’s Mélange included Green Site Services Group, and Lobisser & Ferreira Construction Corp. In addition, over 60 local businesses supported the event.

“I cannot say enough about the incredible support the community and area businesses have demonstrated since the inception of Mélange 15 years ago,” says Edward J. Kelly, CEO of Milford Regional. “Their commitment to our mission to provide exceptional healthcare services is an inspiration to each and every one of us at Milford Regional. We could not have come this far without them. Our partnership has made Milford Regional the outstanding regional healthcare system we are today.”
