Milford Regional Receives Healthcare Achievement Award

Milford Regional Medical Center received the 2012 Member Achievement Award from Amerinet, a leading healthcare solutions organization. Amerinet grants these honors yearly in recognition of the efforts undertaken by its membership to reduce healthcare costs, improve healthcare quality and serve the community-at-large. This is the second consecutive year that Milford Regional has received this honor.

“By offering these awards, Amerinet not only recognizes and celebrates the true leaders and innovators in our industry, it also provides an outstanding forum – a unique opportunity for collaboration among our membership and organization,” said Todd Ebert, Amerinet president and CEO. “This year’s winners formulated and delivered unique, customized strategies that tackled challenges universal to the healthcare industry at-large.”

Entries were carefully evaluated by a panel of expert judges and superior member performance was identified in a variety of categories – from improvement in financial management and operational efficiencies, to patient quality and community impact. Milford Regional was recognized in the Financial and Operations Improvement category for improving patient care and lowering the risk of Clostridium difficile (C. diff) through the reduction of broad spectrum antimicrobials use. C.diff is a bacterium that can cause symptoms ranging from diarrhea to life-threatening inflammation of the colon. It most typically occurs after the use of antibiotic medications.

“The hard work of our team responsible for achieving this recognition and improving patient care should be commended,” states Milford Regional President Edward J. Kelly. “They exemplify the Medical Center’s focus on continuous quality improvement. Congratulations to all of our staff for their role in this effort.”
