Message from Edward J. Kelly, President of Milford Regional Medical Center

I want to share important news about Milford Regional Medical Center and Milford Regional Physician Group. As we plan for the future and work to advance our mission, we have signed a non-binding Letter of Intent that will allow Milford Regional and UMass Memorial Health to explore a potential corporate affiliation. This step builds upon our 120-year success of investing in our mission of providing exceptional care to our community.

UMass Memorial Health and Milford Regional have enjoyed a strong collaboration since 1991 when Milford Regional Medical Center became the first hospital to clinically affiliate with UMass Memorial Medical Center. Since then, many additional clinical and educational programs have been created with UMass Memorial Health to bolster the level of care offered to the Greater Milford community.

Though we have treasured our role as a local, independent medical center and affiliated physician group, the potential of being part of a larger organization offers the stability and resources necessary to grow and expand to continue to meet the needs of our community.

In early conversations with the UMass Memorial Health team, it is clear that we share a set of values and priorities, including:

• Continuing Milford Regional’s position as the provider of choice in the Greater Milford community;
• Enhancing opportunities and strengthening retention of Milford Regional employees and providers;
• Making capital investments to enhance services, equipment and care delivery; and
• Maintaining clinical programs and services that are valued by the community.

While we remain early in the process; there will be no changes in patient care at this time. Once a corporate affiliation is agreed upon, we anticipate the transition to be seamless for our community and our team.

I am confident that aligning with UMass Memorial Health is the right decision to support our continued ability to serve as a trusted health care resource for our patients and community.
