Veterans Honored at Milford Regional

On Thursday, November 10, 2011, an annual Veteran’s Day breakfast was held to honor all Milford Regional’s employees and volunteers who have served in the armed services. Pat Pisani and Ralph Wheeler, employees in Milford Regional’s Security Department, were the special honorees this year. Both men were recipients of the Purple Heart Award during combat in Vietnam. The Purple Heart was established by George Washington and it is the oldest award given to members of the military who are wounded or killed while serving.

Pat Pisani, joined the marines in 1962 and was shipped to Vietnam in 1964 where he was the “point man” – the person who led the company into combat. He received the Purple Heart in 1965. “I am just so overwhelmed,” Pisani said. “I just did my duty like anyone else would have. We’re all patriots, and we all want to see our country free.”

Ralph Wheeler received two Purple Heart Awards during his service in the Army from 1968 – 1970. Ralph was unable to attend the Veteran’s breakfast.
