Suggestions for healthy summer snacks

Frozen bananas – peel and freeze in Ziploc bag

Smoothies made with low-fat milk or low-fat yogurt with berries-strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries or bananas, or peaches

Frozen grapes – pull off stem, wash, dry, place in a Ziploc and freeze

Fruit kebobs – anything is more fun when served on a stick!

Whole grains provide fiber, which helps with digestion and keeps kids feeling full longer. Whole grain crackers, cereal and bread such as pita bread are all good choices.

Bananas = fiber, potassium, vitamin C

Berries = anti-oxidants-lycopene and resveratol

Low-fat milk/low-fat yogurt = calcium, vitamin D, protein

Peaches = fiber, beta-carotene

Grapes = fiber, beta-carotene, anti-oxidants-lycopene and resveratol
