Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear medicine is unique in that it documents organ function and disease. It can examine body function to detect the progression of disease. Nuclear medicine uses very small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose — and sometimes treat — disease. These substances are attracted to specific organs, bones or tissues. They emit gamma rays that can be detected by special types of cameras, either gamma or PET cameras.

You can learn more about nuclear medicine and what to expect during your testing by choosing your procedure from the list below or by speaking with your physician.
