Milford Regional Ranked in Top 10% Nationwide in Patient Experience
Milford Regional Medical Center (MRMC) was ranked among the top 10% in the nation for patient experience for 2009/2010 by HealthGrades. This leading independent healthcare rating organization rates the quality of care at hospitals throughout the country, evaluating procedures and diagnoses, service lines, overall clinical excellence and patient safety.
To identify the hospitals nationwide with the highest patient satisfaction, HealthGrades analyzed patient satisfaction data for 3,711 hospitals in the country using HCAHPS (Hospital Consume Assessment of Healthcare Providers and System) hospital survey data obtained from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). HCAHPS is the first national, standardized, publicly reported survey of patients’ perspectives of hospital care. The survey is administered to a random sample of adult patients between 48 hours and six weeks following discharge from the hospital. It asks discharged patients 27 questions about their recent hospital stay including their perceptions of communication with nurses and doctors, the responsiveness of hospital staff, the cleanliness and quietness of the hospital environment, pain management, communication about medicines, discharge information, overall rating of hospital, and if they would recommend the hospital.
“I want to congratulate and thank Milford Regional’s staff, nurses and physicians for providing exceptional care that combines quality and sensitivity to the patient’s overall hospital experience,” states Milford Regional President Edward J. Kelly. “It is their commitment to treat our patients with the highest degree of dignity, compassion and respect that has placed us in the top 10% nationwide in patient satisfaction.”
